ROCK STAR, A 300 Year Chronology
In conjunction with the South Shore Arts exhibit:
The Elvis Tribute Show: A Diamond Jubilee

Infatuation with celebrity is nothing new. This concert of classical music reveals celebrities of our musical past.

Hear a trio by Weber, an early Romantic who influenced Wagner, and not just because of those killer pork chop sideburns. Nineteenth century sex symbol Franz Liszt’s piano paraphrase of Wagner’s “Liebestod” is to-die-for. Hear a cello sonata by Soviet rebel bad boy Sergei Prokofiev. Finally, enjoy music by this concert’s earliest rock star, GP Telemann, the king of the baroque, whose international fame during his lifetime puts him in a league with Elvis.

John Wachala, flute
Claire Coyle, cello
Amy Wurtz, piano
